It has been a tough year, which could be why we’ve seen many people already putting up their Christmas decorations – we just need that little extra cheer to get us through the coming winter.
However, we could be set to receive an even bigger dose of festivity, with suggestions being made that Christmas could be saved thanks to an easing of social distancing rules over the five-day period.
Prime minister Boris Johnson is making an announcement of plans later today (November 23rd 2020) and news outlets are hinting it may mean bubbles of up to three households are able to meet together between Christmas Eve and December 28th.
Caution will still be advised, of course – but isn’t this just the boost we need as a nation, to be able to sit around the table and celebrate with our loved ones?

Since we’ve been robbed of office parties, drinks with friends and all the other December shenanigans, why not really make the most of this one chance to shine and sparkle in a dressy outfit with lots of bling?
You could get the family involved, too. Perhaps have a contest to see who’s the best-dressed, then put it to a vote over the Christmas crackers, or gift them all some costume jewellery to wear next to their placecards?
We’d love to see everyone taking a leaf from the film Elf’s book and doing Christmas in the most over-the-top way possible for 2020 – don’t forget the photos for our social media, either!
Don’t forget cocktail rings, either, as the Christmas dinner table is the ideal place to wear them. This one reminds us of Christmas baubles – and this one with the ‘dance like nobody’s watching’ inscription is really the perfect sentiment for 2020.
To paraphrase Judy Garland, let’s hope all those dear to us can indeed be near to us – for a very merry little Christmas.
