Metal tones get a hammering for Spring 2021

With the first tentative steps towards freedom from coronavirus restrictions now being taken, we’re already looking forward to wearing costume jewellery this spring and summer that will make the transition from casual to dressed-up.

We’ve been accessorising throughout the pandemic to keep our spirits high, but necklaces and earrings have mostly been quite low-key – they needed to be comfortable with that all-important loungewear, after all.

However, we noticed that the perfect trend for this period of metamorphosis has been emerging during the recent Fashion Weeks: textured and hammered metals.

They were huge news at New York’s virtual event, with designer brands Chloe and Valentino both showcasing bracelets and earrings made from textured gold, bronze and silver.

As Harper’s Bazaar pointed out, the pieces were so organic that they looked as though they had recently been excavated from an archaeological dig – and that’s why they’re the ideal accessory for the warmer months of 2021. These items can finish off an outfit without looking like you’re trying too hard.

At the same time, you can stock up on them now to ward away the last of the cold weather and ensure you look on point for those continuing video calls.

“Hammering gold, silver and brass can add some oomph to simple silhouettes and cohesion to more abstract ones,” the fashion magazine commented.

Here at Majique, we have long been fans of textured metal jewellery as a way of adding interest to the wrist or neckline and presenting a smart-casual style. As a result, we already have plenty of pieces available on our website that will get you in on the trend and ready to prep your S/S21 outfits.

Check out this gorgeous Hammered Worn Gold Squares Necklace for starters, while these Matt Gold Hammered Rectangle Earrings are very similar in style to some we spotted on the runways for Acne Studios in NYC.

We also love this Gold-Toned Brass Hammered Bangle for a more formal take on the Bronze Age-style cuff, which is perfect for peeking out of both knitwear and spring blouses.

So go on – make this forthcoming season hammer time!
