Oscars 2020: Jewellery goes bold but stays classy

Oscars 2020 Jewellery Goes Bold But Stays Classy

All eyes were on Hollywood last night as stars of stage and screen gathered for the 92nd annual Oscars ceremony.

While social media was ablaze with the surprise Best Picture win, we were once again checking out the glamorous fashion at this must-see event – and just like at the BAFTAs, we noticed a trend for statement jewellery that oozed sophistication.

As was the case last week, diamonds really stole the show for 2020 and we spotted countless sparkly necklaces, bracelets and earrings that perfectly finished off the outfits they adorned.

Stylist magazine and the Hollywood Reporter have some great red carpet pictures if you want to take a look at all the coverage, but we particularly loved Mindy Kaling’s diamond collar-style necklace and Charlize Theron’s eye-catching gathered lariat.

Salma Hayek stood out in pearls and a Grecian headdress constructed from more pearls and silver-toned leaves, while Saoirse Ronan went for vintage-look chandelier earrings with a splash of colour in between the sparkle – and a cute hairpin too.

Olivia Colman also opted for colour in the form of diamond and emerald earrings, while Kristen Wiig was one of the exceptions to the ‘sparkly diamonds’ rule in yellow gold fringe-style earrings for a warmer feel.

As ever, the collective worth of the Oscars jewellery would have been eye-watering – Scarlett Johansson’s stunning earrings were reportedly worth around £2 million alone, and Mindy Kaling’s bling had its own security guard.

However, if you want to get in on the resurgence of statement sparkle for an upcoming event or for everyday, you don’t have to break the bank – just check out our range here at Majique. We have a collar-style diamante necklace for just £40 and a host of emerald-look costume jewellery that will give you plenty of fashion kudos.

We’re really enjoying this trend for bold and blingy accessories, which we haven’t really seen since the mid-Noughties. It’s an easy way to inject glamour into any outfit, whether that’s an LBD or a simple T-shirt, so long may it continue. Roll on the next awards ceremony for even more sparkle.
