With the roadmap out of lockdown continuing apace, we’ve been talking a lot lately about a sense of optimism coming through in the world of fashion. It’s as though designers and wearers alike are expressing their joy and exuberance to be free in their clothes and accessories.
This is especially the case for costume jewellery, as recently noted in the style pages of the Times. Writer Jessica Diamond said she’s noticed a lot of nostalgic and almost childlike motifs on necklaces and rings of late, something she attributed to our long confinement being (hopefully) almost over.
“When doing so, it will be a celebratory act. Let’s bring out all the colours and wear our boldness around our necks,” she enthused.
We couldn’t agree more with this lovely quote, especially since it builds on the ‘fun luxe’ trend we’ve been seeing on our favourite influencers. For example, Vogue pictured Anne Hathaway in a bold pink enamel ring that’s a refreshing change from traditional metal tones.
There has also been a lot of resin jewellery in bold hues on our Instagram feeds, which is ideal for when you want to add a pop of brightness and personality to an outfit but don’t necessarily want colour in your clothing.
Even if you wouldn’t go quite as chunky as some of these pieces, you should find that a bright central stone in a ring or pendant with gold or silver tones around it will really contribute to a livened-up look for spring and summer.
We love colourful jewellery here at Majique and have some beautiful pieces to start off your collection as you venture out into the world again. Our blue flower ring is perfect for a kick of nostalgia yet chic-ness at the same time, while our multicoloured ladybird ring leans more towards the all-out joyous kitsch mentioned above.
Our colourful bead necklace also has that ‘summer camp’ vibe that will provide a sense of fun alongside any outfit.
So go on – wear your boldness in jewellery form for 2021!
