5 items you need in your SS17 wardrobe

When it comes to fashion, it pays to be prepared. While you can learn about some of the hottest trends here, it's a good idea to know what individual items you should have in your wardrobe.

This could be pieces of jewellery from our SS17 collection, a certain style of shoes or even a full outfit. There are certain things that can transform even an ensemble you've had for years into an on-trend look.

With this in mind, here are five things you need to add to your wardrobe to make sure you're ready to strut your stuff for spring and summer:

Lace-up sandals

When it comes to footwear, designers are absolutely loving lace-up sandals. These can be flats, heels or platforms, it doesn't matter, just so long as they feature a lace-up style. Suitable for wearing with almost any outfit you can put together, these shoes help add a bit more detail to your look.

You can wear a pair with a simple lace-up style or go for a statement option that creates a criss-cross effect up your leg. Similarly, sandals can be block colours or feature a mix of shades and patterns, meaning your shoes really can steal the show for SS16.

Tulle skirt

No wardrobe is going to be complete during SS17 without a tulle skirt. These layered, ballerina-inspired skirts are incredibly pretty and really versatile. You can wear them in pastel shades for a light and feminine look or team shorter styles with a leather-look jacket for an edgier outfit.

Tulle skirts introduce texture and movement to any ensemble and are being used by designers in ensembles for both day and night. Choose a skirt at a practical length - they range from ballgown styles to above the knee options - and you can create numerous looks, ensuring you get your money's worth.

Cinching belt

Belts are one of the biggest accessories of the season, with the cinched look being huge across every SS17 catwalk. Whether you're wearing a dress, skirt, jeans or tailored trousers, a belt is the perfect way to finish your outfit.

They help to create or accentuate an hourglass figure, especially when you team them with shoulder pads or layered skirts. It's a bit of a difference from the designs that saw shapes being shrouded over the last few seasons, so make the most of showing off your waist with a statement this summer.

Pretty bralette

That's right, bralettes are back. This trend was huge last year and SS17 is the perfect time to rock a pretty bralette.

With sheer and lace fabrics being a big part of designer collections this season, bralettes are a great option as they can be seen beneath other materials, adding another element. Even if you aren't a fan of the whole underwear as outerwear look, you can't deny that bralettes are a cute way to go.

Team them with a tailored jacket or - if you're feeling brave - wear them over a top so they are the star of the show. We don't quite know how this will look in real life instead of on the runway, but it's worth a try.

Asymmetrical earrings

Matching earrings are so 2016, so this year, mix it up with a pair of asymmetrical ones. This is a great way to add a different element to your look, with styles ranging from a stud teamed with a drop earring or even just short and long styles.

We've made this trend really easy to wear with our latest earring collection, which includes a great range of asymmetrical styles. Whether you want a bright, subtle or statement pair, we've got the perfect option for you. This means you can easily make sure any ensemble is on-trend and be ready for whatever SS17 throws at you.
