Trade alert: Look forward to 2019 and all the hottest trends with us

It's almost time to ring in the new year and, aside from a lot of merry-making, this point on the calendar is also an occasion for looking forward to what the next 12 months might bring.

Here at Majique, looking at the hot new trends for the coming seasons is one of our favourite things to do, as we know they'll soon be filtering down from the catwalks to celebrities and then to us on the high street.

At the moment, we're looking ahead to spring and summer 2019 - which does feel strange given the dark evenings and inclement weather we're experiencing in a British December.

It's a lot of fun, though, as the season has a very mixed bag of trends to offer us and we're sure there'll be something to suit everyone.

The main theme seems to be confident yet comfortable - the big fashion houses were showing that they are dressing women for themselves, not in a bid to look 'sexy' for others.

That's not to say there wasn't still plenty of pizzazz on the runways, with animal print looking set to be a big deal in S/S19. Online fashion analytics platform Tagwalk confirmed there has been a positive uptick for everything leopard-look, suggesting we'll see plenty of it as the weather starts to improve.

We're also likely to still see a big influence from the 1980s, with gaudy accessories, strong shoulders, satin and ruffles all having featured strongly on the catwalks of brands like Marc Jacobs.

Linked to this were bows and huge jewellery, with Balenciaga having showcased enormous earrings particularly effectively and dainty bows springing up on everything from dresses to necklaces.

Finally, you might want to stock up on coral for next year, as Pantone recently announced Living Coral as its 2019 Colour of the Year.

It has been lauded for its sociability, spirit and lighthearted playfulness - and what more could you want for an on-trend hue? Stay tuned for plenty of accessories in this shade going forward.

This has just been a quick look ahead, but do keep following these pages for more jewellery trends in 2019. And in the meantime, allow us to wish all of our jewellery buyers a very Happy New Year. Cheers!
