The hottest way to make a simple statement

Much of this season is about bold trends, bright colours and strong, statement pieces. This is great if you love layering your look with a number of embellishments or going big with your jewellery.

However, if you prefer a more subtle look, or if you require it on a day-to-day basis, you may be left feeling that this whole trend for really out there pieces just isn't for you.

You don't have to be relegated to the sidelines though, as you can make a simple statement that still looks stunning and stands out perfectly.

We've got some great tips on keeping this subtle while still turning heads:

Eye-catching detail

Small details can still be incredibly effective at catching the eye, especially if they include an element that contrasts the main bulk of the jewellery.

This can be colour, texture or pattern, allowing you to tailor your detail to your taste and the rest of your outfit.

These details can be incredibly small, just so long as they are central enough in the design that they can be seen at a glance.

Something like this gold triangle slim bangle is a great example as the triangles offer a sharp contrast and will easily catch the eye.

A bit of movement

Movement within jewellery goes a long way to making a statement, even if a piece is quite small. This allows the jewellery to break up your outfit and means that you don't need to go for colour or embellishments to stand out.

Even something like these double silver disc earrings will do the trick, as the link between the two discs allows the lower one to move, which means it will catch the light.

Block colours

Choosing a single colour to wear throughout your jewellery and showcasing it in blocks is a great way to stand out.

This doesn't mean you need to go for a bright colour as silver or gold worn in this way will also be quite effective.

This silver spiral ring is a good example since it is very effective and will stand out for all the right reasons this season.
